Nutrition Reflection (H)

I had previously studied nutrition at college, at a lower level. However, I found the modules very different. Due to this module being solely canine, I found it easier to engage with it and understand it due to me already having a base knowledge of the digestive system from my first semester in anatomy and previously learn knowledge.

I found the lectures very interesting as we had various guest speakers, for example, tails and hills. These inspired me to look further into the subject and helped me understand the importance of nutrition and canine performance and how vital it is in my desired area of work.

The lectures were also very interactive with various quizzes and activities to ensure that the material was being learnt correctly. Furthermore, we were set various assignments to be assessed on our nutritional knowledge. We had to write a 2000 word essay and create and present a 15 minute presentation. This is a challenge for me as I struggle with presentations. This is due to personal anxiety and fear of talking in front of people. However, I have practical and do anticipate it to go well.

Furthermore, we had to design a food product. I thoroughly enjoyed this as I was able to be creative and look into what goes into making an actual functioning dog food. I found this challenging but very interesting and I think that I would like to look into this subject again in the future.  (petMD, 2019)
